What We Do When We Aren't BBQing

In the middle of the craziness of smoking meat, catering, cooking, and the rest of life, it is good to find a place of solitude. A time to reflect and a time to rest. My place is in a tree stand waiting for a deer. Sometimes I shoot and many times I watch, but either way I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds me.

For me the tree stand is a place that is full of a peacefulness that I just can not find when I am at work or even at home. With a 3 and a 5 year old, noise echoes loudly through the hallways. But not here, the only echoes I hear are the falling of leaves and the rustling of the wind. It brings me to a place of prayer and thankfulness for the joy and blessing that has been provided to me. It is only our creator, the animals, and me. It is an amazing place to be able to run to.

This time even more then others I got my solitude, a deer, and I was initiated. Thanks goes out to my Dad, Bryan, Randy, Chris and the whole crew at The Pond. No matter if I shoot or not every hunt is worth it.
